This may look bad, but thanks to the hügel mound design, and the materials assembled to construct them, our rows were not water-logged as of Saturday afternoon.

The time is now to plant as many of the starts as we can in the spaces we’ve been preparing!

Please bring your starts, and seeds you’d like to plant as well. Last week we discovered how long it can take to effectively get plant starts in the ground. This week, we’ll have a couple of new approaches, but mainly a continuation of planting.

We can begin direct-seed planting in some of the rows tomorrow as we wait to do transplants after the 20th (actual last frost date).

…it took a lot of effort to break the initial crust of hardened root-bound earth. When I did, the reward was billowing in small dusty clouds and flying off.
