The Garden is Taking Shape

Last week we met virtually and discussed our overall garden plan, with a focus on the hügel rows and what we want to plant in them. We briefly discussed square-foot gardening (FF to 2:30 min into this short video) and companion planting. These are both links for quick re-cap.

Today’s Activities

If we have drawn up plans, let’s take a look at them and assign rows to folx for stewardship!

Let’s mark our walkways! This will divide our flower area, from our Hügel row and the culturally relevant crops.

The first row needs light weeding.

Hügel row construction continues.

Cutting cardboard for laying down before wood chips are used to cover the walkways.

Manure is being dispersed to the wider part of the garden.

Check out the wildflower collection we got from Roscoe at Global Gardens!

If anyone wants to take on weed eating the outer perimeter, David from the church will be there to walk me and anyone else through how the cord is re-strung and how the Stihl weed eater operates.

Garden Sign

Henry will be at One Stone to begin creating the garden sign! That will be a fun project!
