We’re gathering for a summer garden tour Saturday, August 16 at the Surprise Valley Community Garden—and it’s one of the most scenic stops of the season. Tucked up against the hills of East Boise, this well-loved space has grown alongside the families who care for it.
🌱 About the Garden
This neighborhood-based garden is a true hybrid: with both individual plots and a shared teaching space, it’s designed to meet multiple community needs at once. The communal rows support food donation efforts, and the pollinator gardens offer learning opportunities for local kids. You’ll find flowers, herbs, berries, and vegetables all growing together here—along with a strong sense of community.
Volunteers, neighbors, and plot holders all help this garden thrive. And that collaborative care really shows.
🙌 Grow With Them
Low on space in your own yard—or just looking to connect with others who love plants, food, and the outdoors? Surprise Valley Community Garden invites you to grow with them.
They’re especially welcoming new volunteers as they head into the final stretch of the season—leading up to the second weekend of October.
You can help with:
✅ Harvesting and delivering produce to the food bank
✅ Putting the growing beds to rest for winter
The garden is supported in partnership with Eastwind Community Church.
